Establishing Training Programs To Make Disciples
A vital part of IMC’s dream is to train Hondurans to train Hondurans. No. That was not a typo. We are serious about establishing programs that not only train “first generation” disciples but that train others to lead others to be Christian servants within their own country. Rather than encourage dependency upon American programs, we strive to create motivation for Hondurans themselves to take charge.
In 2014, Mark McGoldrick, CRU missionary from Atlanta, Georgia and his team of trainers initiated a program referred to as T4T…Training for Trainers. This system was taught to more than 150 national pastors and church leaders at our Iglesia Agua de Vida mission center. From that training, leaders were provided materials in Spanish and methods for starting home discipleship groups that multiply within their ranks to create additional circles of training. Deb McGoldrick, the creator of NBS2Go, introduced neighborhood Bible study guides that have been implemented in growing home churches and community groups. What began in the village of Reynel Funez, Honduras has now become a discipleship training program that reaches out to other regions in Honduras.
